Aircraft navigation

NZTopoOnline must not be used for aircraft navigation. Not all aerial wires, cableways and obstructions that could be hazardous to aircraft are shown in NZTopoOnline.

Tracks & huts

Closed tracks or routes in NZTopoOnline are defined as being no longer maintained or passable and should not be used by recreationalists. The Department of Conservation visitor centres or other authorities should be contacted for the latest information on tracks or huts.

Private property

Representation of a road or track in NZTopoOnline does not necessarily indicate public right of access. Please respect private property.

Use of the data

The topographic data displayed on this website has been cartographically generalised, and is intended for published maps at a scale of 1:50,000. For scale, generalisation and accuracy specifications of the topographic data in NZTopoOnline, consult the NZTopo Data Dictionary. Find out more about NZTopoOnline data details & use.
